Contract Analysis & Research Contracts @ Takao Laboratory

【Summary】
We offer research services for phenotypic analysis of various mouse models, including gene modification and drug administration. We can also undertake the production of mice for analysis.

We also offer the generation of genetically engineered mice by using genome editing.

We can also provide consulting services for related research and animal experiments.

Upon implementation, a joint research agreement or contract research agreement will be concluded upon consultation to clarify ownership and confidentiality of deliverables and supplies. It is also possible to conclude a Non-Disclosure Agreement at the consultation stage.

*For universities and other research institutions, we can propose to conduct the research as a regular joint research project, so please consult with us for further details.

【Flow】
We will proceed with your request according to the following flow.

(1) Please feel free to contact us first to discuss the details of the research and experiments you would like us to perform.
Please contact us by e-mail.

(2) Confidentiality agreements will be made if necessary, and we will ask you about the details of the experiments you wish us to conduct.

(3) We will discuss the cost and its payment. There are various forms of payment, such as joint research contracts, funded research contracts, and joint application for grants.

(4) Animal experiments require approval of the Animal Experiment Plan at our university. If a genetically modified animal is to be used, approval of the Genetic Recombination Experiment Plan will also be required.

(5) Experiments will be conducted after the transfer of expenses based on the agreement or after the acquisition of research funds is completed.
The cost of transporting the animals and samples is to be covered by the client.

(6) The outcome will be delivered. We will send the results of the analysis in electronic data. To receive the genetically engineered mice, you will need to have a suitable facility to accept the mice.
Consultation on the use of the results is also available upon request.

The standard number of mice required for behavioral analysis is 20 mice in each of two groups, but the number of groups and mice can be increased or decreased depending on the purpose of the experiment.
Multiple tests can be conducted together as a battery test using the same animals.

We have other behavioral tests that can be conducted in addition to the above, so please feel free to contact us for more information.

We can also measure blood biochemistry, blood pressure, blood flow, etc.

【Generation of Genetically Engineered Mice by Genome Editing】
We can offer a service to generate genetically engineered mice by genome editing using mouse embryo manipulation technology and the CRISPR-Cas9 system.

We can produce mice with simple knockout, mutation introduction, long-chain knock-in, etc.
The mice obtained can be bred and expanded, and then used for behavioral analysis.

【Necessary expenses and fees】
For mouse behavior analysis, 200,000 - 3,000,000 yen (JPY) per experiment; additional expenses are required for production and beeeding of mice for the experiment.

Behavioral experiments No. 1-3 are a set of basic observations (reference price: 200,000 yen for 2 groups of 20 animals each), and No. 1-12 + (22) are a standard behavioral test battery (reference price: 6,000,000 yen for 2 groups of 20 animals each).

Genome editing mice cost between 650,000 yen and 3,000,000 yen per strain, depending on the mutation you are trying to introduce.
Please contact us for details.

We can provide live mouse born from F0 mice.
We can also provide the genotyping protocol (optional).

Thirty percent of the cost must be paid to the university as an indirect cost if the fee is paid as a joint research expense.

Please feel free to contact us for a free pre-consultation.
